1. What is a region card

A region card in Plumbing Copilot represents a filled region element from Revit. It defines boundaries that the generated route cannot cross. These regions help enforce design constraints by marking areas like building perimeters or restricted zones such as electrical rooms, ensuring the route avoids them during generation.

2. Add a region card

To add a region card in Plumbing Copilot:

  1. Select a Filled Region: You will be prompted to select a filled region element from the Revit project.

Upon selecting a filled region:

  • A Region Card will be created in the "Regions" panel.

  • The selected filled region will be removed from the Revit project and stored in Plumbing Copilot’s database.

Only one filled region can be selected at a time.

Filled regions with multiple closed loops cannot be used.

3. Card title

Each Region Card is assigned a title that helps identify the filled region it represents. By default, the title is Detail Filled Region.

Users can rename the card for clarity by:

  • Double-clicking the title field directly on the card.

  • Entering a new, descriptive name that reflects the region's purpose (e.g., “Electrical Room Boundary” or “Building Perimeter”) and press Enter.

Double-click the title field to edit it.

4. Card image

Each Region Card includes a thumbnail image that provides a visual reference for the selected filled region.

  • The image is generated when the region is added, offering a snapshot of its shape and location.

  • Manual Updates: Users can replace the image to improve clarity by:

    • Taking a new, clearer snapshot of the filled region.

    • Uploading any other relevant image that better represents the region.

To edit the image, press the icon at the top left corner of the thumbnail.

5. Associated level

Each Region Card is linked to the level in Revit where the filled region was originally placed. This association helps Plumbing Copilot manage routing constraints accurately.

  • The associated level is displayed on the card for quick reference.

  • Users cannot modify the associated level directly from the card.

6. Draw region

The Draw button allows users to redraw the previously selected filled region. This feature helps users recall the exact location and boundaries of the region for better design accuracy and routing constraints.

Steps to Use the Draw Feature:

  1. Click the “Draw” Button in the Regions panel.

If you wish to modify the drawn region, note that the changes will not be reflected in the existing region card. The modified filled region must be added to the Regions panel as a new card, and the old one should be deleted.

This feature is especially useful when users need to visualize or modify the region after it has been removed from the Revit project.

7. Delete card

If you no longer need a region card, Plumbing Copilot allows you to delete it from the Regions panel. Deleting a card removes the stored region from the software and ensures that it is no longer used for routing constraints.

Steps to Delete a Region Card:

  1. Double-click the Red "X" Button: This button is located in the top-right corner of the card.

  2. Confirm Deletion: A confirmation prompt will appear. Click Yes to finalize the deletion.

Once deleted, the region card cannot be recovered unless re-added or redrawn.

8. Include the Card in the Routing Path

To include a region card in the path planning and route generation process, follow these steps:

  1. Hover Over the Card: When you hover over a region card in the Regions panel, the cursor will change to a plus sign.

  2. Select the Card: Click on the region card to include it in the path planning and route generation process.

  3. Visual Feedback: Upon selection, the card’s color will change, indicating that it has been successfully included in the routing process.

This feature helps visually track which region cards are active in the route planning, making it easier to manage routing constraints.

Click the Add Button : In the "Regions" panel, click the Add button.
