Pipe Size

The Pipe Size option, represented by the Diameter setting in the control panel, allows users to define the diameter of the pipes used in the generated route. This setting is controlled using the Use Assigned Type checkbox and the Diameter checkbox under the Assigned Type section.

Use Assigned Type: Checked
  • Diameter: Checked

    • The selected diameter value from the dropdown list will be applied to the generated route.

  • Diameter: Unchecked

    • Plumbing Copilot determines the pipe size using the following rules:

      • Start Connector Diameter > End Connector/Element Diameter

        • The diameter of the end connector/element will be used in the generated route.

      • Start Connector Diameter < End Connector/Element Diameter

        • The diameter of the start connector will be used in the generated route.

Use Assigned Type: Unchecked
  • Start Connector Diameter > End Connector/Element Diameter

    • The diameter of the end connector/element will be used in the generated route.

  • Start Connector Diameter < End Connector/Element Diameter

    • The diameter of the start connector will be used in the generated route.

1. Add/Delete a pipe size

The diameter values available in Plumbing Copilot's control panel are synchronized with Revit's Pipe Settings menu under the Segments and Sizes section.

  • Add a Pipe Size: Adding a new size in Revit will automatically update the diameter dropdown list in Plumbing Copilot's control panel.

  • Delete a Pipe Size: Deleting a size in Revit will remove it from Plumbing Copilot's diameter dropdown list.

This ensures that Plumbing Copilot always reflects the current size options configured in Revit.

2. Diameter units

The diameter values displayed in Plumbing Copilot inherit their units from Revit's Pipe Dimensions field under the Project Units settings.

Users can adjust these units in Revit's Project Units panel to reflect the preferred measurement system (e.g., inches, millimeters). The changes will automatically apply to the diameter values in Plumbing Copilot's control panel, maintaining consistency between both tools.

Example: Project Units in Revit

Below is an example of how the diameter units correspond to the settings in Revit:

  • Revit Project Units Panel: Configures pipe dimensions in millimeters.

  • Plumbing Copilot Diameter Dropdown: Displays diameter values in millimeters.
