P-Trap Configuration

PreviousConvert ElbowNextSupported Terminal Elements

Last updated 6 months ago

The P-Trap option enables users to include a P-trap in the generated route. To activate this feature, ensure the following conditions are met:

  1. Enable the P-Trap Checkbox: Check the Add P-Trap checkbox in the control panel.

  2. Select the P-Trap Family: Choose a compatible P-trap family from the P-Trap dropdown list in the control panel.

Refer to the Supported Pipe Fittings section to ensure the compatibility of the P-trap family.

If the Add P-Trap checkbox is unchecked or an incompatible family is selected in the dropdown, the generated route will not include a P-trap.

1. Key requirements

  1. Resizable P-Trap Family

    • The selected P-trap family must be resizable to adapt to the dimensions required by the generated route.

  2. Compatibility with Sloped Pipes

    • The P-trap feature only functions with sloped pipe routes and will not be included in non-sloped configurations.

2. Drop settings

The Drop Settings option allows users to define the vertical pipe length directly before the P-trap in the generated route.

How It Works

1

Check the Drop Checkbox

Ensure the Drop checkbox is selected to manually configure the drop length.

2

Select Unit Type

Choose the desired unit (e.g., millimeters or inches) from the dropdown menu next to the text box.

3

Set Drop Value

Enter the desired drop length in the text box.

4

Automatic Conversion

The entered Drop value will be automatically converted to match the selected unit.

When to Specify the Drop Value or Let Plumbing Copilot Decide

  1. Specify the Drop Value

Choose this option in the following scenarios:

    1. Specific Design Requirements

      • When the drop length must align with particular design criteria, such as compliance with plumbing codes or matching a fixed vertical distance.

    2. Direct P-Trap Placement

      • To position the P-trap directly at the start element, set the drop value to 0.

  2. Leave it to Plumbing Copilot

If there are no strict drop length requirements:

    • Allow Plumbing Copilot to determine the drop value for optimal routing.

    • This approach minimizes the number of fittings used in the generated route.
